EUROPEAN MINARDI PS01B ALONSO JAPANESE GP
THE RISE OF SAMURAI
The Rise of a Samurai Legend
In the 2001 season when Fernando Alonso made his Formula 1 debut, he drove the Minardi PS01B in the final round at the Japanese Grand Prix. Now, for the first time ever, this car has been faithfully recreated as a 1:43 scale model – an exclusive release by 7.COLLECTION.
Outperforming Rival by a Low-Powered Minardi
Alonso is known for his admiration of samurai culture, and at Suzuka – his first ever F1 race in Japan – he demonstrated a bold and razor-sharp overtake worthy of the phrase “The Rise of Samurai.”
One of the most memorable moments was his fearless move into Turn 1 to pass Olivier Panis (BAR Honda). Despite driving the underpowered Minardi with no DRS available at the time, Alonso bravely challenged a car equipped with the high-output “Suzuka Special” engine. The packaging features a photograph of this remarkable overtaking manoeuvre.
World’s First Model of the B-Spec Version
This model faithfully recreates the “PS01B” – the B-spec version introduced in the latter half of the 2001 season – as a world first. Enjoy the unique details such as the upgraded bargeboards and revised wing shapes that distinguish this special version.
