THE RISE OF SAMURAI

The Rise of a Samurai Legend

In the 2001 season when Fernando Alonso made his Formula 1 debut, he drove the Minardi PS01B in the final round at the Japanese Grand Prix. Now, for the first time ever, this car has been faithfully recreated as a 1:43 scale model – an exclusive release by 7.COLLECTION.

EUROPEAN MINARDI PS01B FERNANDO ALONSO F1 JAPANESE GP 2001

Outperforming Rival by a Low-Powered Minardi

Alonso is known for his admiration of samurai culture, and at Suzuka – his first ever F1 race in Japan – he demonstrated a bold and razor-sharp overtake worthy of the phrase “The Rise of Samurai.” One of the most memorable moments was his fearless move into Turn 1 to pass Olivier Panis (BAR Honda). Despite driving the underpowered Minardi with no DRS available at the time, Alonso bravely challenged a car equipped with the high-output “Suzuka Special” engine. The packaging features a photograph of this remarkable overtaking manoeuvre.
